Reinsurance

For several decades, Mendes has represented both US and non-USA based reinsurers in performing due diligence claim reviews on reinsurance for professional lines, healthcare and casualty lines of business.  These claim reviews identify claim trends, personnel changes within a company that may impact a cedant’s performance, claim systems and views regarding reserving.  We also provide advice to non-admitted reinsurers with respect to collateralizing their reinsurance obligations here in the United States through the management and monitoring of financial activity through financial letters of credit.  Finally, our Litigation practice group has provided dispute resolution advice arising under reinsurance contracts, which advice includes reinsurance arbitrations.  Mendes has a vast network of reinsurers, reinsurance brokers, intermediaries and cedants that allows Mendes to navigate though many contentious situations arising between parties to reinsurance contracts.
