Profile

Patrick represents U.S., London Market and Bermudian Insurers as coverage and monitoring counsel on a wide variety of Lawyers Professional Liability matters ranging from high-value litigation against multi-national law firms to claims against sole practitioners.   Patrick also represents Insurers as coverage and monitoring counsel for Directors and Officers policies issued to public and privately-held companies.  In addition, Patrick acts for Insurers with respect to Insurance and Real Estate Agents and Brokers, Miscellaneous Errors and Omissions, and Media exposures.  As part of his responsibilities, Patrick represents Insurers’ interests at arbitrations, mediations and court-ordered settlement conferences.  Patrick also provides advice and assistance to Insurers on policy drafting and endorsements.

Additionally, Patrick conducts reinsurance claims audits on behalf of Reinsurers of North American Bar Related Insurance Company programs for small law firms and has conducted reinsurance claims audits and TPA claims audits for a wide-variety of additional classes of business.

Patrick joined Mendes’ Professional Liability Group as a Summer Associate in 1993 and has been an Equity Partner since 2007.  He is a current member of the firm’s Management Committee. 

Patrick is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).
