Tom has over 45 years experience in the insurance industry, joining Mendes in 1977 after five years as an underwriter with Travelers Insurance Company. Tom’s practice consists of working with our international insurance client base to resolve coverage issues arising from historic liabilities, including asbestos, pollution, and other health hazards such as lead paint, silica, benzene, breast implants, and contaminated blood factor products. His practice includes all aspects of dispute resolution, from claim and policy analysis, through settlement, mediation, arbitration or litigation. Tom has represented insurers in disputes with hundreds of policyholders, primarily Fortune 1000 Companies. He has successfully negotiated settlements involving billions of dollars. Tom has been counsel of record in approximately 40 reported decisions in various federal and state courts, involving asbestos, pollution and health hazard disputes. He was an Adjunct Professor at Pace University for approximately 6 years, teaching basic and advanced property casualty courses.
