Heather Calvano

Profile

Heather has been with Mendes since 2001. She became an Equity Partner in 2012 and is currently the department head of the Complex Claims practice group as well as a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Her principal focus is complex coverage matters associated primarily with asbestos and health hazard matters. Heather counsels and defends clients in insurance disputes, litigation and settlements. While the focal point of her representation involves insurers based in the United Kingdom with respect to liabilities in the United States, she also advises European and Domestic insurers regarding aviation-related exposure claims.

Heather spent an extended period of time working in London on secondment with Markel International Insurance Company where she served as an in-house legal advisor on insurance, contract and corporate law issues, specifically counseling on the legal implications and nuances of U.S. law.

Heather is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York and is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association and the Association for Professional Insurance Women.
