Mendes & Mount, LLP is very pleased to announce that John P. Falcone will join the Firm as an Equity Partner in our Aviation Practice Group.  With over 20 years of experience in aviation law, John will devote his practice to a broad array of aviation-related matters ranging from major air catastrophes to general aviation claims and litigation, with  emphasis on aviation products liability.

A 1989 graduate of St. John’s University School of Law with an undergraduate degree in Aeronautics, John is an FAA licensed pilot whose clients have included foreign air carriers, aircraft manufacturers, aircraft component part manufacturers, FAA certified Repair Stations, ground handling and service companies, charter operators, terminal operators, military and government contractors, and manufacturers of ground support equipment. John is a “hands-on” litigator whose education in aeronautics and practical experience enhance his ability to analyze client exposure, craft litigation strategy, and supervise and co-ordinate defensive efforts on a nationwide and international basis.  His experience includes assisting clients with FAA and NTSB investigations and hearings addressing aircraft general compliance as well as incident and accident investigations.

John’s election to our partnership ranks and leadership role in our Aviation Practice Group signifies our strong  commitment  to continue to serve the legal needs of our aviation clients. We are proud of  our historical presence within the Aviation Market and are determined to maintain that presence well into the future by  providing the sophisticated and high-quality legal services that our clients demand.  We are confident that John Falcone and our Aviation Practice group will deliver an impressive blend of technical and legal expertise in the handling of a broad spectrum of aviation-based claims and litigation.

Given his substantial career in aviation, John  Falcone is  certainly  familiar to many of you.  As our newest partner, John will work closely with other Mendes lawyers with whom you are very familiar.  Ed McMurrer, in an “Of Counsel” role, will be actively engaged in the supervision, handling and defense of matters in the Aviation Practice Group.  Throughout his storied career at Mendes & Mount, LLP, Ed has played a prominent role in the representation of a wide variety of aviation clients including airport service and security providers, airlines, and aviation products manufacturers. While Ed’s career in aviation claims and litigation has been diverse, on the products liability aspect, he has particular expertise in engines and fuel controls.  Also, we are pleased to confirm that  Paul Moran will continue with the firm handling the defense of complex  aerospace products liability litigation.  Paul was an Air Force captain and C-130 pilot before joining Mendes in 1977.  His invaluable experience as a pilot and aviation lawyer has resulted in the successful resolution of numerous multi-district aviation cases for domestic and international clients.  With over 85  years of collective experience in representing aviation insureds, John, Ed and Paul are the foundation of our ongoing aviation practice and the springboard for an innovative and exciting evolution of this practice into the future.  They will be supported by a staff of able associates and, where additional  litigation capability is required, they will be assisted by our highly experienced litigation teams in New York (headed by Mary Ann D’Amato and including Robert Brown who has many years experience in handling aviation products liability litigation) and  New Jersey (headed by Robert Priestley who currently represents our aviation clients in New Jersey litigation).

In addition, Richard Milazzo will continue to handle Aviation Exposure claims.  Rich and his team of experienced attorneys and claims analysts already service numerous aviation market accounts. With their expertise in handling large volume, long tail health hazard claims and their familiarity with the aviation market, they are well equipped to expand their aviation client base and take on the challenge of new long tail and mass tort claims.

Our commitment to our aviation clients will not end here.  It will continue to be our goal to build and maintain an aviation practice that is more able-bodied and more competitive than ever before.  As we do in all areas of our practice, we will strive to provide the highest quality legal service at the most reasonable cost to our clients.  Most importantly, we pledge to continue the tradition of service and expertise that has made Mendes & Mount, LLP trusted counselors to our valued aviation clients for decades.

As we make further additions to our Aviation Practice going forward, we will continue to keep you closely advised.  In the meantime, we hope you will join us in welcoming our newest Equity Partner, John Falcone, to the Aviation Department of Mendes & Mount, LLP.
